Metal Hammer

My most recent assignment in Typography 1.  We did a six-page spread emulating a particular magazine layout.  I chose "Metal Hammer," which, for those who don't know, is a British magazine devoted to metal music.  The content of our six-page spread doesn't necessarily deal with the content of the actual magazine.  In fact, we were to compile information on a particular typographer or graphic designer.  I chose Matthew Carter, one of the first typographers who worked both with physical metal type as well as digital type when it was invented.  The point, however, wasn't really the content -- the point was to make it look like a certain magazine.  I'm very pleased with the turn out.
Pages 1 & 2

Pages 3 & 4

Pages 5 & 6

Note: These spreads were done in Illustrator, but converting them to JPEG format brings out some of the outlines in the photos of Matthew Carter.  These are not showing in the originals.
